Anna Steiner
Anna originally studied the sets and costumes for the theatre on the Theatre Design course at Central school of Art and Design.
After designing many plays in many theatres and finally an original production of Shakespeare’s “Lear’ at The Other Place, Stratford-on-Avon the interest and focus of costume and textiles led to hand printing and creating her own designs for fashion and accessories.
In 2000 an MA at Middlesex University in Spatial Culture has subsequently resulted in new work.
Still using textiles and other materials, ideas connected to the theatre are the subjects for my present work.
Model making skills, invention and play have produced the pieces on show for the Arts Trail 2018.
‘Theatre-wise’ it’s the idea of ‘boats for escape’ and ‘transportation to elsewhere’ and characters with super powers that I enjoy.
